Fiona Meakin Designs - Draw With Fi

The 'Happy Child' facebook page includes research and resources relating to children's wellbeing. I was recently asked to design the picture to feature on the site which is very exciting. I am going to put a glow around the outside of the font but here is the logo so far...   Visit www.facebook.com/happychildinfo for more information

A couple of Fridays ago I learnt how to crochet the head of an Amirugumi animal! I am so happy because it has been on my 'To Do' list for well...time! It is very basic and yet to be given eyes but it is a start, and will hopefully lead on to a new section of produce that we can sell on the Fi & Me shop. I was taught by the lovely (and very patient) Sue Diskin who is currently teaching at HART every friday morning. Sue is a textile artist and painter, specialising in crochet in particular but she has a plethora of other arts and craftsy skills up her beautifully crocheted sleeves!

Congratulations to ARC who have won the 'Life-changing' category at the 'Proud of Stockport' Citizen Awards 2012! Anyone who has visited an event or taken part in a class will certainly know this is a well deserved award. ARC is nestled in the heart of Reddish's community and is so important to the people who attend. Can you see my owls debuting in the top right hand square? Exciting! If you're looking for an beautiful gift as an altenative to the high street (without the queues and crowds) why not visit the gallery shop?

All ready to be posted off to Brooklyn Art Library! Done! Yay! With three days to go, I have finished and my little book is in the post, winging its way to the library for Sketchbook Project 2012 .

I'm getting very close to finishing my sketchbook now, well, I have finished inside...I just have the outside to decorate - which isn't actually a necessity - I am just being a perfectionist and won't feel like it is complete until I have done it!! This project has been really good for me, in terms of discipline. It is challenging to work to a time limit, but without one work would float on and on and on.....(!) My sister Jenny knows this only too well as we are collaborating on a children's book which I am illustrating. It is far too easy to keep pushing the deadline to another date (sorry Jen!). It's nearly ready though so keep your eyes peeled. We are both extremely excited about its arrival! It's like expecting a baby! Above are the 'underneath' images from my sketchbook. I am fascinated by these 'accidents' because in some ways they can be even more interesting than the original illustrations, and for that reason I have m...

This is one of the new canvases that I'm working on, I want to develop my painting style for illustrations and found this lovely circular canvas recently that lends itself to my illustrations of people and animals inside frames. Will update when it's finished, just need to add a bit of fine detail...

Sketchbook Project 2012 I am busy working on my entry for this year's Sketchbook Project My chosen title is I Remember You .    I won't give away what happens in my sketch book yet, because it has turned into a little story, but you can have a sneak look at my work in progress...More to follow soon. Plus! Below is a little drawing that is possibly my favourite sketch that I have done recently! My daughter is in love with our friend's Miniature Schnauzer called Shadow!
