HAIRY TALES! Weeks 3 and 4 - Nexus Art Cafe

Well, over the past week and a half I have been so busy painting my Rhino for Rhino Mania (Wild in Art) that I've not been able to be a physical presence in Nexus but my research into hair has still been at the forefront of my mind.

My project seems to be growing and evolving the more I read and delve into this subject area. I'm currently reading Head to Toe by Joe Orton, have been looking at Rudyard Kipling stories and traditional fairy tales. I will be running a felt making workshop sometime in March (look out for the date on my blog) and this will be linked with story-telling and a sense of community and family.

Thanks to everyone who has so far participated in my Drawing Project, 'The Enchanted Box.' I have about 30/40 miniature drawings and I've been delighted, suprised and tickled by your drawings and thoughts on the theme Fairy Tales, please keep them coming...and I will be refreshing the supplies on tables in the cafe next time I'm in...

Arc Community Gallery - Reddish

Congratulations to ARC who have won the 'Life-changing' category at the 'Proud of Stockport' Citizen Awards 2012! Anyone who has visited an event or taken part in a class will certainly know this is a well deserved award. ARC is nestled in the heart of Reddish's community and is so important to the people who attend. Can you see my owls debuting in the top right hand square? Exciting! If you're looking for an beautiful gift as an altenative to the high street (without the queues and crowds) why not visit the gallery shop?

Make It in Design - Module 1 2016

Hello! It's been AGES since I posted. It has been a busy time and I decided to take some time to develop my portfolio, invest in my professional development and generally get a bit organised. I have just finished ABSPD Module 1, in which I have begun the journey of developing my characters and illustrations into surface pattern designs. The course is simply a MUST if you are considering a career in design. I can't recommend it highly enough. I will write in more detail later, but for now here is my piece for the typography competition that was open to module 1 alumni. I create character-led illustrations primarily for the greeting card and children's markets so my quirky character I drew for this piece compliments my style. I learnt how to layer up my work and create pattern repeats using Photoshop.
