Exciting News!!! Oasis Cafe Exhibition

I had an exciting day yesterday! Many many thanks to my sister Jen who made it possible for me to drop off some work whilst she looked after my little girl! Thanks Jenny - you're a star!!

Over the next few months I will be exhibiting 5 framed prints in the Oasis Cafe at Stepping Hill hospital, Stockport.

On my way there yesterday afternoon, I slipped on a grid outside A&E! (which could have come in useful but luckily wasn't needed!)

With my jeans slightly torn and my ego slightly bruised, I finally managed to get to the cafe and handed in my illustrations and cards. They will be up soon and available to buy!

Over the last few months in preparation for the Fi&Me launch myself and my business partner (and sister Lu) have been reading books/blogs on starting a business. One tip from the wonderfully inspirational girls who run Red Velvet is to celebrate successes by treating yourself, so I went and bought a gorgeous winter woolly as a present to myself for my first little show (it made me feel better about falling over too!)

Arc Community Gallery - Reddish

Congratulations to ARC who have won the 'Life-changing' category at the 'Proud of Stockport' Citizen Awards 2012! Anyone who has visited an event or taken part in a class will certainly know this is a well deserved award. ARC is nestled in the heart of Reddish's community and is so important to the people who attend. Can you see my owls debuting in the top right hand square? Exciting! If you're looking for an beautiful gift as an altenative to the high street (without the queues and crowds) why not visit the gallery shop?

Make It in Design - Module 1 2016

Hello! It's been AGES since I posted. It has been a busy time and I decided to take some time to develop my portfolio, invest in my professional development and generally get a bit organised. I have just finished ABSPD Module 1, in which I have begun the journey of developing my characters and illustrations into surface pattern designs. The course is simply a MUST if you are considering a career in design. I can't recommend it highly enough. I will write in more detail later, but for now here is my piece for the typography competition that was open to module 1 alumni. I create character-led illustrations primarily for the greeting card and children's markets so my quirky character I drew for this piece compliments my style. I learnt how to layer up my work and create pattern repeats using Photoshop. Here's a link to the Make It In Design website www.makeitindesign.com
